World Energy Day is observed annually on 22 October, anchored by the World Energy Day Conference. The Foundation also runs webinars and roundtables throughout the year.

It began in Kenya and has expanded across East Africa — hosting editions in Uganda and running the YEEP programme in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania — while convening a global audience.
